I. Playing Games
Playing games is one of the basic ways to earn neopoints on Neopets. To make the most efficient use of your time, start by playing several games. Finding games you like can be time consuming at first but will make your job easier later; once you’ve finished a game and sent score, you’ll see how many neopoints you’ve earned. You can then compare how long it took you to finish the game versus how many neopoints you earned (but remember, no game can pay out more than 1,000 neopoints per play). Everyone is good at different games, so be sure to play several games to find ones you can play as quickly and easily as possible. Once you have decided which games you like, add them to your “Favourites.” This can be done by scrolling down on the game play page – at the bottom are several bottoms. The one shaped like a heart with a plus sign is the “Add to Favourites” button. This generates an easy list for you to play daily – just click on each game in your list to play. Each game can be played up to three times a day for neopoints; while you can play a fourth time, you will not earn any neopoints from subsequent game plays.

While games are mostly easy to play, the problem with this method is that it is time consuming with little payout. At most you can earn 100k a day – but it takes hours every day to play enough games to earn that much. Most people will earn around 30k, sometimes up to 50k if they play a lot of games, and can expect to spend anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. This makes this a slow and labour intensive way to save.

II. Stock Market

Stocks are an easy way to earn neopoints. Daily, look for stocks at the lowest buyable point (15np per share) and buy the maximum number of shares (1000 shares daily).

Then, walk away. Go play games, or feed your neopets, or log off for the day.

Repeat the process every day, checking your previously purchased stocks. Your stocks from the previous day may have even gone up to 16 or 17 or even 20np a share – or they may have fallen to 14, 13, or even 10np a share. However, the secret of the stock market is to do nothing yet other than buy your daily stocks – don’t sell if you have a minor increase or panic if your stocks have plunged. You cannot lose neopoints if you don’t want to – simply don’t sell for less than you want.

The stock market is a long term strategy. Most users set a “sell point” and decide they will not sell their stocks for anything less than their sell point. A common sell point is 60; some users use a higher number and some a lower number.

The main problem with the stock market is that it could take anywhere from a couple months to many many months to reach your sell point. The stock market is not a fast way to make neopoints and while it’s nice to get a profit from the neopoints you invested, it can make saving very slow, and very unpredictable. Restocking takes a lot of patience and refreshing. Choose a shop and familiarize yourself with what is sold there to get an idea of what is popular and profitable. Once you have an idea of what items would be good to buy and resell, open your shop of choice and refresh every few seconds. Eventually, the shop will restock. If you see an item that is worth buying, click it immediately and if you’re fast enough, you’ll be taken to the haggle screen. (If you’re not, you’ll get an error that you were too slow and the item is already “SOLD OUT”)

The haggle screen primarily consists of a space to enter your bid and an image with a Neopet on it. The image is a security method and will give you instructions to click the Neopet – it might be a Buzz, an Elephante, or some other Neopet. Once on the haggle screen, type in your offer quickly and click the Neopet in the graphic-verification image. If you were faster than any other user in the shop, you’ll get a confirmation of your purchase – if you’re too slow, you’ll get the “SOLD OUT” error.
The primary problem with this method is that it takes a lot of skill, a lot of luck, and a lot of time. It is also very tedious and very dull to refresh the shops for hours – and if you refresh too often, you might even get “restock banned” which means you are unable to see items in any shops for up to 24 hours.
